Visitor Parking

Visitor Parking

One-day Visitor Parking, Weekdays


Visitors coming to campus on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. may park in Lot 21, near Jadwin Gym, or the visitor parking area in Lot 23, near the West Garage.
Visitors to the undergraduate or graduate admission office may park in Lot 23, which is located near the south end of campus or in Lot 21, near Jadwin Gym. 
A free campus shuttle, TigerTransit, operates frequently from both locations during weekdays until the early evening.
If you are planning to visit for more than one day, you will need to obtain a permit from the Transportation & Parking Services, in the New South building, floor A, across from West Garage.

Campus Parking for Evening Events & on Weekends


From 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. on weekdays and from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, visitors may park in most of the University's numbered parking lots, including Lot 21 and West Garage. Lot 10, on Williams Street, is recommended for events starting after 5 p.m. at the University Chapel, Prospect House and Murray-Dodge Theater. See the visitor parking map (.pdf). Additionally, Lots 6, 8, 9, 11 and 18 are not open to the public at any hour.

Overnight parking in any lot for visitors is prohibited, unless visitors have special permits issued by the Transportation & Parking Services during normal weekday business hours.

A Tiempo Real: Una revisión de proyectos recientes

Retos prácticos y teóricos de una producción artística que trabaja sin Cuba como territorio, pero desde la isla como condición temporal.  

Alamar es el sitio: Las casas templo del proyecto OMNI Zona Franca
David D OMNI, Musician and Multidisciplinary Artist 

La ponencia de 15 minutos pienso hacerla sobre las casas templo del Arte que el grupo OMNI Zona Franca, del cual soy miembro, ha fundado en Cuba. Analizaré la mixtura cultural que presenta el espacio de Alamar por estar poblado por exiliados latinoamericanos, ex-técnicos del campo socialista, estudiantes africanos, así como gente de otras provincias del país. El tipo de arte que esto produjo puede verse como el antecedente directo de nuestras casas, que funcionan como una puerta al mundo y a la vez, un sitio de singular empoderamiento cultural.

Bios:

Rodolfo Peraza was born 1980 in Camaguey, Cuba. Graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) with a BA in Sculpture, he is an artist living between Havana and Miami. Peraza works with public signs interventions, using the Isotype language (International System of Typographic Picture Education) to develop new narratives in public spaces. Since 2008, he also develops video games software and other interactive artwork. He was the founder of Fanguito Estudio (Havana, 2005-2010), an independent artist-run space focused in New Media art, located in the neighborhood popularly named as Fanguito. His work has been show at Jumex Collection, Nina Menocal Gallery (Mexico City), Carlos Garaicoa Open Studio 2.0 (Spain), Arco Fair; LOOP video Fair (Barcelona);  Centro Wilfredo Lam (Havana City) and Pulse and Basel art fair (United States). His works are also part of the permanent Jumex collection in Mexico City and AGO Museum in Ontario, CA.

Javier Guerrero holds a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from New York University and a Licenciatura in Film Studies from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He specializes in twentieth-century Latin American literature and culture with an emphasis on gender and sexualities, and visual culture. Before coming to the US, he was President of the Venezuelan Cinemateca Nacional, where he curated more than 25 International Film Series and Festivals. Guerrero has coedited Excesos de Cuerpo (Eterna Cadencia 2009, reprinted in 2011) and the two-volume dossier Cuerpos enfermos/Contagios culturales (Estudios 2010, 2011). His scholarship also includes a book on the Venezuelan filmmaker Mauricio Walerstein and the novel Balnearios de Etiopia (2010). He has completed the book-length manuscript El cuerpo bajo sospecha: Exhibicionismo y cultura visual en América Latina. Currently, Guerrero is working on a new book, Synthetic Matter: Dolls and Horror in Latin America, and a series of essays on archive and culture. Hi has published the novel Balnearios de Etiopía (Eterna Cadencia, 2011).

Ana Olema Hernández. Artista visual, graduada de la Cátedra de Arte de Conducta un proyecto de Tania Bruguera en el 2007, perteneciente al Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba (ISA). Su obra ha sido exhibida en alrededor de una veintena de exposiciones colectivas, destacándose “Estado de excepción”, proyecto colectivo presentado por Arte de Conducta, Galería HABANA, 10ma Bienal de La Habana; Bomba Lógica, 7ma Bienal de Gwangju, presentada por Arte de Conducta bajo la curaduría de Okwui Enwezor (2008); Tanda Corrida, 5to Salón de Arte Cubano Contemporáneo, Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales; Le Fresnoy/Habana Remix. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA); y “Domesticación” en el Espacio AGLUTINADOR, La Habana (2007). Colaboró en la revista o-Ver del artista Rirkrit Tiravanija. Tailandia-Nueva-York, con la obra “TCM: Trabajo Científico Metodológico” (2008) y ha realizado varias intervenciones de arte público entre las que se encuentra “Una ideología formalista”, coordinada durante la celebración del 47 Aniversario de los Comités de Defensa de la Revolución (CDR#22, zona 8. Oficios y Sol. Habana Vieja; proyecto perteneciente a la Residencia Batiscafo, 2007, otorgada por la Fundación Hivos y Triangle Arts Trust). En 2005 creó el archivo fotográfico de los murales del centro docente de la Ciudad de los pioneros “José Martí” antes de la remodelación del lugar, documentando la vida del espacio que forma parte del imaginario colectivo. Dicho proyecto, bajo el título “Yo no sé que es Tarará”, fue parte de un ejercicio de taller auspiciado por la artista danesa Ann Rike Luter. En el 2007 Ana Olema participó en el INTERMEDIAE-MINBAK 4días/5 noches/nabi incluido, en el Matadero Madrid, una iniciativa de la institución dentro del marco de ARCO ́07, patrocinado también por el Art Center Nabi de Corea del Sur, para estudiantes de Bellas Artes. En la actualidad, Ana Olema realiza diversos proyectos que se valen del uso de las redes sociales y la presencia en línea de la artista y su identidad virtual, tales como Helena Producciones (https://www.youtube.com/user/helenaproducciones) y Chancleta Power (https://www.facebook.com/chancletapower).

David D OMNI is a musician and a multidisciplinary artist. He founded in 2000, along with another OMNI Zona Franca members, the internacional poetry festival Poesía Sin Fin (Alamar). His visual artwork has being shown in Cuban galleries, and also in some international art fairs. David D OMNI launched local and international concerts while his albums have gained in popularity among young people inside the island. He design his own cloth, write on his shirts, and has a very strong projection on stage during performances.
